Gallbladder removed and ready to go!

Hey friends! I am back! Yay! It has been a few months since I wrote last. But I promise I never stopped thinking about you. Anyway, let’s get back on business!

Late June this year I started experiencing a little discomfort after my meals. Due to my diet not being as I should have been, I assume I was having some indigestion. These digestive issues started increasing after every since meal.

Two months passed and my digestive system had not improved. At that point a had already seen my PCP who ordered a gallbladder ultrasound. I was hopeful to find what was wrong with me after getting the results. Nothing but a sludgy gallbladder (not enough to be a concern).

Another painful week passed (I had missed work for at least a week and a half) and my PCP had not contacted me, instead, she went on vacation and didn’t leave anyone on-call. I felt hopeless and helpless. Don’t worry, I managed getting a new PCP as soon as she referred me to a surgeon. This provider ordered an HIDA scan (this study reveals the gallbladder function. Ans what was it? 31% gallbladder function. Right after the diagnosis I was schedule for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (procedure where you get 3 to 4 small incisions on you abdominal area to get the gallbladder cut and removed) right away. It needed to be functioning at least 35% for the doctors to leave it alone. Too close!

The good news are everything is slowly going back to normal. I have read that it might take weeks maybe months for the digestive system to adapt. The liver now would work as the gallbladder would do.

Luckily the only side effect of this surgery has been severe bruising and abdominal pain.

3 Ingredient Fat Bombs

I truly believe that I do not have to spend too much money on eating keto. Two things I avoid  buying fbombs and MCT Oil when I can get benefits of coconut oil. I understand the MCT Oil might show results faster, but hey I am not in a hurry. I will probably stick with the ketogenic protocol for the rest of my days.

So here is the recipe for the fatbombs I like to make for myself. I use them mostly when I know my meal wasn’t fatty enough.

Ingredients: (4 servings)

  • 4 tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut Oil  (I like ALDI‘s brand)
  • 1 tbsp 100% Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
  • Stevia Extract to taste (I use Better Stevia)

 

Instructions:

Melt the coconut oil. Add and mix the powder ingredients. Pour into cupcake liners or silicone ice trays. Let it cool off and harden (do not freeze). Store in individual ziploc baggies.
